The White Station High School Honors Orchestras www.whitestationorchestra.weebly.com “Clef Notes” #3 – October 21, 2020 Abbreviated updates for WSHS Orchestra students and parents All-West Audition Updates The West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association (WTSBOA) will be offering the All-West Tennessee Honors Orchestra Auditions (“All-West”) this year. There will not be an actual clinic or concert at the Cannon Center. For this year only, the audition will consist of two prepared excerpts (60%) and a cycle of scales (40%). There is no sight-reading this year. Auditions will be individually recorded by students and submitted to me. I will submit all audition recording to WSTBOA at one time. The submission window will be in mid- to late- January, 2021. As more details are shared from WTSBOA, I will pass them along. At WSHS, registering for – and taking – the audition will not be a graded requirement this year. Our annual Audition Preparation Unit of Study will still take place during the second quarter (you may have heard of “All-West Wednesdays”). Students will study the audition excerpts and prepare the scale requirements. There will be dedicated class time for study, sectionals, demonstrations, and performance evaluations. There will be individual assessments on the materials covered. Upcoming Assignments 10/21 With Nicky Video Lesson #6- “More Left-Hand Basics- Part 1” is due 10/22 Practice Plan #2 turned in.
